A bizarre, disorienting, and unexpected arrangement. What is this even?
Thanksgiving!
(ps: expect posts from basically this whole album come December)
OMG. Huge thank you to me2ism for having this on Tumblr. My mom had this CD and played it relentlessly when I was in middle and high school, and I just neeeeeded to hear this song RIGHT NOW—this particularly goofy version. It’s a hard one to find. :)
The last sentence of Carla’s post just made my day.
Carla, I hope you’re enjoying your hoop journey! It’s a lot of work but it’s fun. Love the photo you posted too. Books and hoops are my favorite things.
I’ve been practicing my hoop dance for about 3 weeks now.
My main goal with hoop dancing is just to burn calories, not to become a performance artist. But I still would like to learn basic moves like the lasso and the vortex.
I’ve had to do this with some of mine now too. Especially the twins. How ridiculous is it that I have four LED hoops and yet I want MORE!? I want one larger one (for tha slow jams), one that’s got some different colors than what I’ve got (aqua/green/purple or blue/green/white), and some minis…
I love this photo. I feel gorgeous in this photo. And I love that it looks quiet and a bit serene even, but I was hooping in front of an audience of about 5,000+ people with a blaring cover band.
Tilly Whirls (Leslie Perales), hooping at Friday Night Live, May 4, 2012, Herndon, VA. Photo by Tom Flores Sr.
Just took one of these. Spent about 15 minutes moving around my living room in a hoop, trying to find the shortest songs in my playlist and see what came of it. “Fugue for Tinhors” was really amusing to hoop to.
Just found a photo of myself on F*ck Yeah Hooping. I think I posted this either on my Tilly Whirls website or on HoopCity. The photo on the left is the month I started hooping (Feb. 2011). The one on the right is six months later (Aug. 2011), after losing 25 pounds. I didn’t practice as much in the winter months so my weight loss is still at 25 pounds. But I imagine that might change now that the weather’s getting warmer again.
